The area around Euston train station is the London borough of Camden, the borough was created in 1965 and was named after Camden Town.
Camden has a population of around two hundred and twenty five thousand people and has some of London’s most desirable places to live such as Camden Town and Hampstead.
Camden is famous for its street markets, Camden lock market is held on the side of Regent’s canal on the site of a former warehouse where its stall holders sell a bizarre range of craft products.
Camden is home to the singer Amy Winehouse where she made her name singing in the Hawley Arms public house.
Hampstead is home to the rich with more millionaires in the boundaries of Hampstead village than any other area of the United Kingdom and also home to some of the most expensive houses in the world with many properties valued at over twenty million pounds.
Hampstead Heath is a large park covering 790 acres and dates back to 986, the park includes a high ridge which is one of the highest points in London giving it excellent views over the city including St Pauls cathedral, the London Eye observation wheel and the BT Tower. Local legend states Queen Boudicca is buried at Boudicca’s mound near one the parks bathing ponds.
Hampstead has had many famous residents including; Dame Agatha Christie, Robert Louis Stevenson, H.G. Wells, Florence Nightingale, George Orwell and A.A. Milne as well as many modern day celebrities such as Dame Judi Dench, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ricky Gervais, Brad Pitt and George Michael.
